a leading global provider of wireless broadband solutions, today debuted the PMP 450i 900 MHz, bringing further capacity and opportunity to the flagship Point-to-Multipoint (PMP) 450 platform through the use of the 900 MHz spectrum. The addition allows for deeper frequency propagation to suit the needs of rural broadband deployments, SCADA and sensor data backhaul and even video surveillance applications.
The propagation characteristics of the 900 MHz frequency band outperform many others and are ideal for connecting subscribers and sensors that are difficult to reach. The 450i 900 MHz product will be sold as a connectorized version furthering the usability and functionality of the 450 platform and allowing service providers to continue offering high capacity, high reliability networks using multiple frequencies.
“The PMP 450i 900 MHz has the same capacity as our other PMP 450 platform radios and provides the infrastructure needed to deploy networks in non-line-of-sight (NLOS) and remote environments, greatly expanding a service provider’s reach,” said Atul Bhatnagar, president and CEO, Cambium Networks. “Providers can now upgrade their PMP 100 systems and unlock the 900 MHz capacity through our PMP 450 platform. We expect to achieve three to four times the amount of available bandwidth in the same channel size, even in the same noisy and interference-prone environments.”
Key features of PMP 450i 900 MHz include:
Deeper frequency propagation for Cambium Networks PMP 450 platform
Provides a reliable link for near and non-line-of-site (NLOS) deployments
100 Mbps subscriber capacity in a 20 MHz channel
Access point is now 802.3at compatible and includes an AUX port, while the Subscriber can re-use the 30 VDC power supplies common to the PMP 100 platform
